Mass Effect Legendary Edition is a collection of the Mass Effect trilogy: Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3. All of them are remastered, with technical improvements, gameplay adjustments and visual improvements. Mass Effect received the most upgrades, including loading times, graphics, vehicle handling and combat mechanics.

The Mass Effect Legendary Edition development commenced in 2019 under Mac Walters (Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 lead writer) and BioWare decided to approach the project as a remaster as opposed to a remake in order to preserve the original trilogy experience. The Legendary Edition was announced on November 7, 2020 and released on May 14, 2021, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Mass Effect is a single-player action role-playing game in which the player takes the role of Commander Shepard from a third-person perspective. Mass Effect was developed over the course of three and a half years and uses the Unreal Engine 3.

It is the first chapter of a trilogy and designed so that the player would assume the role of a central character that could make important decisions and impact the story of the game in numerous ways.
