Electronic Arts has just officially ruined the upcoming skate 4 by breaking one of their own promises to the community of this open world game. Now datamines reveal that ea will be implementing a paid lootbox system into the skate beta while they’ve claimed before they would not making fans absolutely furious. We’ve seen tactics like this before with need for speed payback and star wars battlefront which let to a huge microtransactions controversy. As of now in-game currency called taps can be collected by completing challenges but stars can be earned through tricks, general play, and increasing your reputation level but to everyone’s surprise will be purchasable in the near future. However as an upside skate 4 is completely free-to-play with cross progression and releasing on every single platform including on ps5, xbox series x/s, pc and even on mobile later down the road.
