Welcome to this totally fresh footage of Tempest Rising my fellow gamers and RTS fans. Not only will I show you some never before seen units and buildings but also tell you about the others we just learned about during the latest developers interview as well as more important info about the game.

In case you have missed my previous video where I talked about this game’s story and setting as well as its similarities and differences with the Command and Conquer franchise, use the link up here or below in the description.

The first thing the Developer, Brandon Casteel, who you might know by this Twitter and website ‘Wayward Strategy’ wanted to clear up was that despite they have taken a lot of inspiration from Command and Conquer, Warcraft and StartCraft, Tempest Rising still has many special features that will make it unique.

Here are a few: The faction Global Defense Forces, or GDF for short, has a special resource they collect in combat called Intel. This resource is used for special abilities of units and has a few other uses. On the other hand the Dynasty faction is very focused on generation of power in their power plant buildings and its usage.

One of the direct ways to use this is to switch a power plant from a power production to a power distribution mode in which this building speeds up not only building times of nearby buildings but also their combat power. So you can boost your defenses or your unit production as long as you have built enough power plants to support this action. This is just one such system and Dynasty has several of them.

Another extra feature of this game is its system of specialists. In single player these units are individually named units or better said characters, whom you can recruit between missions and do actual special missions for and earn their trust and support.

This also comes as a choice, because doing a mission for one, will secure them for you, but the missions you don’t do, also lose you other potential specialists. So there is replay value in that. In multiplayer these units are also present, but as much more simple units and not specialist, keeping their unique abilities but with no story elements.

One of the top tier units in the GDF is a unit called the Scrambler, a harassment unit with several great abilities. It can become invisible when it’s not attacking, but when it is it fires long range missiles at both air and ground targets. It can deploy something called Tempest Chaff to disable enemy buildings and do area damage. And it’s also very fast, so perfect for ambushes. The downside? It’s a literar glass cannon.

When it comes to the hatted unit limit I want you to take a good look at this amount of units here on the screen and then look over here at the unit limit counter. Because this big army preparing for the attack on the enemy’s base has taken only a third of the current 300 unit limit. So if you think an army three times the size of this one is still not enough… well I can only hope the developers increase the cap even further for you.

When it comes to Dynasty units in these clips we can see the regular infantry as well as the flamethrower ones in action. The later ones are particularly deadly to infantry. The flame turret also serves the same function but can in fact put vehicles on fire as well and even down hill as we can see here.

The heavy Dynasty infantry unit is definity these ones here with the mini gun strapped at their shoulder firing away and taking tank shells in the face.
